Valdes

On May 14, Brendan Valdes of Orlando, Florida, took the title at the Florida Junior Tour at Kingsway Country Club in Lake Suzy, Florida. The 14-year-old was the wire-to-wire winner of the 55-player field in the Boys Division, shooting a 1-over-par 145. This is Valdes’ second top-20 finish in his past three tournaments, including the AJGA Junior All-Star at Lost Springs presented by Visit Bentonville.

 

Yu

Stephanie Yu of Palo Alto, California, finished T19 at the Spring Series VI at Monarch Bay Golf Club in San Leandro, California. The 16-year-old recorded three more birdies and three less bogies in the second round, improving by ten strokes from the first. Yu continues to play strong, finishing in the top 20 in two consecutive tournaments. Her most recent AJGA appearance was a first-place finish at the AJGA Preview at Yolo Fliers on April 7.

Seventeen-year-old Jake Marek of Westlake Village, California, tied for sixth at the Ventura County Junior Golf Association’s TaylorMade Player’s Championship at Monarch Dunes Golf Club. He shot a 9-over-par 80 in the first round, but shaved off eight strokes in the second to put him back in the top 10. Marek last played in the Strategic Communications / Justin Thomas Junior Championship presented by Phocus on April 21, where he finished in the top 20.

 

Cornelius

Jordan Cornelius of Bethesda, Maryland, finished first at the Southeast Tour Championship at Falcon’s Fire Golf Course in Kissimmee, Florida. Cornelius was in second place behind Ying-Ting Hsieh of Huantan Township, Taiwan, after the first round. In the second round, she had an eagle and three birdies to claim the title with a 4-under-par 140 for the tournament. Cornelius last appeared in the Sergio Garcia Foundation Junior Championship on May 5.
