Polo Ralph Lauren #InspiredPerformances: October 10

Michael Thorbjornsen
of Wellesley, Massachusetts, rallied in a sudden-death playoff to notch his first-career AJGA championship at The PING Invitational. Entering the final 18 holes, Thorbjornsen held a two-stroke lead, but a quadruple-bogey on No. 5 negated his advantage. However, the No. 5 player in the Rolex AJGA Rankings regained his form, and he eventually birdied the first playoff hole to secure the victory. The win is Thorbjornsen’s second national junior golf victory of 2018, with the first one coming in July at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.

Xin (Cindy) Kou of (China) Windermere, Florida, fired a 9-under-par 207 to capture her eighth AJGA tournament title at the AJGA Junior All-Star Invitational at Reynolds Lake Oconee. Despite entering the final day four strokes off the lead, the two-time Rolex Junior All-American turned in a dominant final round, holing seven birdies en route to a three-stroke victory. Kou, who is No. 19 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, was also named to the 2016 ACDS Junior All-Star Team.

Stephen Campbell Jr. of Richmond, Texas, earned his first AJGA tournament title at the 2018 Billy Horschel Junior Championship presented by Zurich. Campbell entered the final round facing a three-stroke deficit, but five final-round birdies helped Campbell regain the lead and win the modified Stableford event with a score of 26. Along with this win, Campbell has five top-10 finishes in AJGA events since 2017, and he is currently No. 138 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings.

Rose Zhang of Irvine, California, grabbed her third AJGA Invitational victory of 2018 at The PING Invitational. After a first-round 2-over-par 74, Zhang responded in the second round by shooting even-par 72 to take a one-stroke lead entering the final round. In the final round, the two-time Rolex Junior All-American held off the field and took the title by one stroke. Since 2016, Zhang has five AJGA tournament titles to go along with a victory at the 2017 Girls Junior PGA Championship.
