53 AJGA Members and Alumnae to play in Inaugural ANWA

The top female amateurs in the world will soon make their way to Augusta National Golf Club for the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur. Being held a week before the 2019 Masters Tournament, 72 young women will have the opportunity to play the first two rounds on one of Georgia's premier golf courses, Champion's Retreat, as well as play the final round on Augusta National itself.

Of those 72 players who were invited to compete 53 of them have participated in AJGA events as part of their junior golf experience. 

The champion of the event will receive an invitation to the next five ANWAs, the 2019 U.S. Women's Open, the 2019 Women's British Open and any USGA, R&A and PGA of America amateur championships for one year.

Notable competitors with AJGA ties include:

Jaravee Boonchant

During her time with the AJGA, Boonchant was a two-time Rolex Junior All-American and had won the 2016 ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex. In her four years playing AJGA tournaments the Bangkok, Thailand, native never finished outside of the top-30 at an event. Currently a sophomore at Duke University, Boonchant has two top-10 finishes in her collegiate career and finished the fall of 2018 ranked No. 25 in the Golfweek Women's Collegiate Individual Rankings.

Sierra Brooks

Brooks' AJGA career included six wins and a career record of 6-7-3 as a four-time Wyndham Cup East Team participant. The University of Florida Senior made program history when she won two tournaments in her first three starts as a Florida Gator.

Andrea Lee

Lee is a five-time Rolex Junior All-American and was the 2014 Rolex Junior Player of the Year. During her time with the AJGA she carded two wins and had a record of 10-2-0 as a participant of the Wyndham Cup West Team from 2012 - 2014. Currently a Junior at Stanford University, Lee finished the 2017-2018 season with three wins ans started 2019 ranked No. 5 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

Haley Moore

During her time playing in AJGA events, Moore won three AJGA tournaments and was a member of the 2015 Wyndham Cup team where she finished with a 4-0-0 record. Moore also played in the 2015 ANA Inspiration as an amateur where she finished T-67. Most notably the University of Arizona Senior sank the winning putt for her team to win the 2018 Division I NCAA National Championship.

Rose Zhang

Zhang is currently an AJGA member. She is a three-time Rolex Junior All-American and has five career AJGA wins. She is currently ranked No. 2 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings and has a career record of 3-4-3 as a two-time participant of the Wyndham Cup West Team.
