TOUR Highlights: May 1

Cameron Smith last played with the AJGA at the 2010 Thunderbird International Junior.
Cristie Kerr was honored as the Rolex Junior Player of the Year in 1995.

PGA TOUR

Cameron Smith and partner Jonas Blixt survived an inspired comeback from Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in a playoff. After Kisner chipped in for eagle to force the playoff on Sunday night, Smith hit an approach shot inside five feet on the fourth hole of the playoff before sinking the birdie putt on Monday morning.

The win was Smith’s first on the PGA TOUR and comes almost seven years since he last competed with the AJGA at the 2010 Thunderbird International Junior. Kisner was a two-time Rolex Junior All-American with the AJGA from 2001-02, while Brown last played with the AJGA in 1999.

LPGA Tour

Haru Nomura outlasted two accomplished AJGA alumnae to earn a win at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout presented by JTBC. Cristie Kerr, the 1995 Rolex Junior Player of the Year, made the only birdie of the day at the par-3 17th to force a playoff before falling on the sixth playoff hole.

Web.com Tour

Matt Atkins, who played with the AJGA in 2008, earned his first win on the Web.com Tour with a tournament-total 17-under-par 271. Atkins enjoyed a bogey-free final round on Sunday while locking up the three-stroke victory.

Symetra Tour

A pair of AJGA alumnae came up just short of a victory at the Symetra Classic behind champion Nanna Koerstz Madsen. Local Mariah Stackhouse, a former Player Representative on the AJGA Board of Directors, finished T2 at 9-under-par 207. Daniela Darquea, champion of the 2013 AJGA Kansas Junior at Buffalo Dunes, matched Stackhouse at 9-under-par.
