Se Ri Pak to host AJGA tournament

BRASELTON, Ga. – The American Junior Golf Association is pleased to announce that LGPA Tour legend Se Ri Pak will host the Se Ri Pak Junior Championship, August 21-24, 2017. The 54-hole stroke play event, made possible thanks to a significant contribution from the Hana Financial Group, will be held at Butte Creek Country Club where 96 boys and girls from around the world will compete for the title.

Se Ri Pak is a South Korean former professional golfer, who played on the LPGA Tour from 1998 to 2016. In 2007 she was inducted in to the World Golf Hall of Fame. Throughout her LPGA Tour career, Pak claimed 25 victories and 123 top-10 finishes. Among her LGPA Tour wins are five major championships, including the McDonald’s LPGA Championship which she won three times. She also won the U.S. Women’s Open in 1998 and the Weetabix Women’s British Open in 2001.

“I feel it is very important to use my experience and success to help future generations of golfers become better players and better people,” Pak said. “Towards this end, I am extremely excited to partner with the AJGA and Hana Financial Group for this tournament and help provide more opportunities for junior golfers to experience world-class competition, build relationships with international counterparts and, most importantly, have great time while playing a sport we all love.”

Joining Pak in supporting the event is the Hana Financial Group, one of the largest bank holding companies in Korea. The company was established in 1971 as Korea Investment & Finance, the nation’s first financial company established and financed solely by private fund.

The Se Ri Pak Junior Championship will be played at Butte Creek Country Club. This will be the fourth-time Butte Creek Country Club has hosted the event. The tournament begins Sunday, August 20, with an AJGA Qualifier where 88 players will compete for the final tournament playing opportunities. First- through final-round tee times will be Tuesday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. off the No. 1 tee at Butte Creek Country Club. An Awards Ceremony will take place following the conclusion of play at approximately 5 p.m.
