What's Your Major?

For Amanda Blumenherst, the answer is the McDonald's Betsy Rawls Girls Championship–her first major victory. This latest victory is the eighth for the 17-year-old.

Amanda Blumenherst of Scottsdale, Ariz., overcame deceptive greens and a charging Julieta Granada to capture her first AJGA Major victory at the McDonald's Betsy Rawls Girls Championship. Blumenherst sank an eight-foot par putt on No. 18 to hold off Granada, who had closed the gap to one stroke with a birdie on No. 17.

The win is the third for Blumenherst this season and the eighth for her AJGA career. The first-team Rolex Junior All-American bested 20 other All-Americans at this week's event, held at the new-look White Manor Country Club. The course underwent a complete redesign last year that included the incorporation of radical green designs that challenged the juniors throughout the championship.
