McDonald's LPGA Championship
The McDonald's LPGA Championship has been instrumental in making the McDonald's Betsy Rawls Girls Championship a success since its beginnings in 1989 when the LPGA McDonald's Championship Committee, along with LPGA Tour Hall of Famer Betsy Rawls, first approached the AJGA with the idea of a junior girls national championship. That idea has grown into one of the premier junior girls tournaments in the nation thanks to the continuing support of the McDonald's LPGA Championship. The second-longest running tournament in LPGA history, the McDonald's LPGA Championship is only surpassed in age by the U.S. Women's Open. Since its inaugural playing in 1955, the event has crowned golf legends such as Betsy Rawls, Louise Suggs, Betsy King, Juli Inkster, Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam. McDonald's has been a title sponsor of the event for 25 years, during which time the tournament has helped to raise over $41 million for Ronald McDonald House Charities and other children’s charities around the world. The LPGA McDonald's Championship Committee is proud to contribute to the development of junior golf by serving as a title sponsor of the McDonald's Betsy Rawls Girls Championship, one of the most prestigious and competitive events on the AJGA schedule. |
