Walking
Stick Golf Course to Host AJGA Event in June
Walking
Stick Golf Course will play host to the AJGA's PING/Marsico
Funds Colorado Junior Roundup this summer, the AJGA announced
Tuesday. The Pueblo, Colo., course will host the 54-hole
event -- which will attract some of the top junior golfers
from around the nation -- from June 3-6.
"We are extremely pleased to have Walking Stick host
our PING Championship," said Pat Abshire of the Phoenix-based
manufacturer. "Being a Colorado native, I have played
the course numerous times and it is one of the toughest
courses I have ever played. The juniors will truly be challenged
by the golf course."
Walking Stick Golf Course was designed by Arthur Hills in
1991 and is no stranger to hosting premier events. The course
annually hosts U.S. Open local qualifying, was the host
of the 1995 Big "I" Championship, and will be
the site of the 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship.
