AJGA Releases Initial "Top-25 List"
This Month: Courses that
have hosted the most AJGA tournaments
To help commemorate the AJGAs 25th anniversary, ajga.org
will publish a monthly top-25 list from now until October.
These lists will highlight some of the AJGA's top supporters
and relive some of the most memorable moments of the past
25 years. Fittingly, each list will be released on or near
the 25th of the month.
This months top-25 list recognizes the outstanding golf
courses, resorts and clubs that have hosted the most AJGA
tournaments in the past 25 years qualifiers excluded.
Counting them down to number 1, lets begin!
T24. Walt Disney World Resort Lake Buena Vista,
Fla. 8 events
Disney has hosted the Polo Golf Junior Classic every Thanksgiving
since 1995.
T24. Windsor Parke Golf Club Jacksonville, Fla.
8 events
The AJGA conducted an event at the club each year from 1992-1999
T18. Abilene Country Club Abilene, Texas 9 events
Jeremy Frye set the AJGA boys 54-hole scoring record on this
popular Texas track last year.
T18. DuPont Country Club Wilmington, Del.
9 events
Home of the McDonalds Betsy Rawls Girls National Championship
since 1994. Also the site of one of the LPGAs four majors.
T18. The Homestead Resort Hot Springs, Va.

Host of the ClubCorp Junior Players Championship every year
since 1994.
T18. Myrtlewood Golf Club Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Former host of the AJGAs Myrtle Beach event, which annually
attracted some of the strongest fields in the Southeast.
T18. Oak Tree Country Club Edmond, Okla.

A staple on the AJGA schedule, the Oak Tree event has attracted
top players to Central Oklahoma for nearly 10 years.
T18. Turnberry Isle Resort and Club Aventura, Fla.

Host of the AJGAs South Florida event from 1992-2000.
17. French Lick Springs Resort French Lick, Ind.
10 events
Hosted the AJGA for 10 straight years from 1983-1992.

T14. Horseshoe Bend Country Club Roswell, Ga.

The AJGAs first permanent National Headquarters was
located on the grounds of Horseshoe Bend, which was also the
site of Phil Mickelsons three-straight Rolex Tournament
of Champions victories.
T14. La Paloma Country Club Tucson, Ariz.

The former home of the Polo Golf Junior Classic hosted numerous
AJGA events from 1985-1994.
T14. Magnolia Grove Golf Club Mobile, Ala.

Host of the AJGAs popular Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail
Junior Classic over Labor Day Weekend.
T12. The Karsten Course at ASU Tempe, Ariz.

This Valley of the Sun course has hosted the PING
Phoenix Junior Championship each year since 1991.

AJGA Players tried their luck on this Vegas-area course from
1990-2001.
T9. Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course Stateline, Nev.

One of the first courses to host an AJGA event, Edgewood Tahoe
played host to the Association from 1980-1992.
T9. Fairway Oaks Country Club Abilene, Texas

The original home of the AJGAs Abilene event, the course
hosted the event from 1981-1993.
T9. Flint Elks Lodge 222 Golf Club Flint, Mich.

Original host of the Buick Junior Open, one of the AJGAs
longest running events.
T6. Aspen Municipal Golf Course Aspen, Colo.

The AJGAs home in the Rockies from 1989-2002.
T6. English Turn Golf and Country Club New Orleans,
La. 14 events
This popular PGA TOUR stop has hosted the AJGAs New
Orleans event every year since 1989.
T6. New Seabury Country Club Mashpee, Mass.

The AJGAs home on Cape Cod nearly every year from 1989
until today. The Club also hosted the Junior Match preceding
the Ryder Cup in 1999.
5. The Woodlands Country Club The Woodlands, Texas
15 events
Former home of the AJGAs Easter event in Texas. The
club hosted the AJGA from 1985-1999.
4. University of New Mexico Golf Courses Albuquerque,
N.M. 16 events
Hosted the AJGA from 1983-2000 with the exception of 91
and 92.
3. Innisbrook Resort Tarpon Springs, Fla. 17
events
The Florida resort hosted one of the two events the AJGA conducted
in its inaugural year of 1978. The resort has hosted various
events throughout the years, including the 2001 Rolex Tournament
of Champions.
2. Bellefonte Country Club Ashland, Ky. 19
events
Bellefonte has served as home of the Bluegrass Junior Invitational
each year since 1984.
1. Mission Hills Country Club Rancho Mirage, Calif.
23 events
The Palm Springs-area course has hosted at least one AJGA
event each year since 1982. The facility is also the home
of an LPGA major.
