Round-up Georgia
State earned top honors Sunday with a one-stroke victory
over the University of Florida at the Carpet Capital
Collegiate. Clemson freshman David May
had a second-place finish, helping the Tigers to a sixth-place
team finish. The 2005 Rolex Junior All-American carded
rounds of 68-74-65 207 to leave him at 9-under for the
tournament. His final-round 65 was the second best by
a freshman in Clemson history and his total of 207 tied
the record for the best 54-hole tournament total by
a freshman. Maria
Martinez led the Auburn Tigers to a one-shot
victory on Sunday over the number one ranked Duke women’s
golf team. After posting a final-round 68, Martinez,
a 2000 Rolex Junior All-American, captured the nine-stroke
victory over Tennessee freshman Nicole Smith
and Alabama junior Jenny Suh. Erik
Flores tied for second with a 4-under-par tournament
total of 212 last week to help UCLA earn team honors
at the CordeValle Collegiate. Teammates Daniel Im and James Lee
finished tied for fourth.
