Canon Cup Rankings Finalized
East vs. West event will take place August
2 - 5 at Caves Valley Golf Club
The race that started June 30, 2003, ended July 6 as
the rankings for the 2004 Canon Cup were finalized.
With less than a month until the event, the team captains
will meet this week at the Rolex Tournament of Champions
to finalize the team rosters, which will be formally
announced Monday, July 12.

Canon Cup is a unique AJGA event that assembles 10 of
the best boys and girls from each side of the Mississippi
River in a three-day team competition.
This year Canon Cup will be held August 2 – 5
at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md. Caves
Valley was also the host of the 1997 Canon Cup.
Players are selected based on points that are earned
through top finishes in AJGA and other select national
junior golf events.
The top eight boys and eight girls from each side of
the Mississippi River are selected based on their finish
in the Canon Cup points standings.
Two boys and two girls East of the Mississippi River
and two boys and two girls West of the Mississippi River
will be selected by their respective team captain following
the 2004 Rolex Tournament of Champions to fill out the
20-player rosters.
Earning top points for the East boys is Brian Harman
of Savannah, Ga. Harman, the Rolex Junior Player of
the Year, earned wins at the U.S. Junior Amateur, Polo
Golf Junior Classic and the FootJoy Boys Invitational
with six top-10 finishes in the past year.
He finishes with 928 total points, 323 points higher
than his closest competition.
At the top of the list for the East girls is 2002 Rolex
Junior Player of the Year In-Bee Park of Eustis, Fla.
Park finishes with an AJGA-high 1318 after tallying
three wins at the Rolex Tournament of Champions, Golf
Pride Junior Classic and the Robert Trent Jones Golf
Trail Junior. She also has four runner-up finishes so
far in 2004.
Leading the way for the West boys is Trent Leon of Dallas.
Leon totals 475 points after finishing in the top 10
in AJGA events seven times, including a win at the Justin
Leonard/Deloitte Junior Team Championship with Kevin
Schultz of Richardson, Texas.
Schultz finished second in the final points standings
for the West boys, trailing 115 points behind Leon.
Running ahead of the pack for the West girls is Rolex
Junior Player of the Year Paula Creamer of Pleasanton,
Calif. Creamer finished with 658 points after wins at
the Lessing’s AJGA Classic and the Heather Farr
Classic. She also carded runner-up finishes at the Abilene
Reporter-News/Lawrence Hall Abilene Junior and
the McDonald’s Betsy Rawls Girls Championship.
