junior Angela Park |
AJGA juniors Angela Park of Torrance,
Calif., and Esther Choe of Scottsdale,
have earned spots in the LPGA's Safeway International
Presented by Coca-Cola. By besting the field at the
Safeway International Amateur Open, they will be able
to play in the event March 16-19.
Held
at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club in
Superstition Mountain, Ariz., Park, currently the topped
ranked junior girl according to the new Rolex AJGA Rankings,
shot a 4-under-par 68 to best Choe by one stroke.
Taylore
Karle will also have an opportunity to play
in the event. After shooting 2-under 70 at the Amateur
Open, Karle earned a spot in the March 13, Monday qualifer
for the LPGA Tour event. The tournament is also scheduled
to be held at Superstition Mountain.

Greg
Koch took home top honors at the Matlock Collegiate
Classic last week, shooting 1-under-par and helping
Florida Southern medal in team scores…The UCLA
trio of Craig Leslie, Peter
Campbell and Lucas Lee took
the top three spots at the Pala Mesa Invitational. Team
honors at this event went to Oklahoma Christian, whose
top finisher was Brandon Melville,
finishing tied for fourth…Casey Clendenon
topped the field by five strokes at the UCF/Rio Pinar
Intercollegiate leading his team to victory…Sam
Korbe from the University of Tulsa defeated
University of Florida senior Brett Stegmaier
in a playoff. With the help of his teammates, Stegmaier
was able to lift his team to medalist honors at the
SunTrust Gator Invitational…Irene Cho
from the University of Southern California bested Jennifer
Osborn of Arizona State University by one stroke
at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge. Arizona
State took home team honors.
