Newsmakers: April 24, 2007 Junior Round-up
Peter Uihlein of Bradenton, Fla., won the Terra Cotta Invitational by eight strokes, finishing with an 11-under-par 205. Uihlein was the only player to break par in all three rounds, firing 67-71-67. College Round-up Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech tied for the team title at the ACC Championship. It is the first conference title for the Hokies and the second consecutive shared title for Georgia Tech, who tied with North Carolina last year. Tennessee shot 29-over-par 869 to claim its first SEC title in 17 years. Auburn's Patton Kizzire won individual honors with a 1-over-par 211. BYU dominated the PING Golf Cougar Classic with a team total 32-under-par 832, giving the Cougars a 15-stroke margin of victory. BYU was led by Daniel Summerhays, who captured medalist honors with an 11-under-par 205. Michigan State dominated the Fossum by Red Cedar Lodge on its home course, winning by 14 strokes with a 23-under-par 841. The Spartans were led by Jack Newman, who won the individual portion with a 10-under-par 206. The Georgia women's team won the SEC Championship with a 1-over-par 865. The Bulldogs were led by Taylor Leon, who captured the individual title with an 8-under-par 208. Texas A&M rallied to take the team title at the Big 12 Championship, finishing five shots ahead of Oklahoma State with a 47-over-par 911. women's conference championships... Professional Round-up Nick Watney won the PGA TOUR's Zurich Classic with a 15-under-par 273. It is the first PGA TOUR victory for Watney, who is now in his third year on the tour.
