Newsmakers: May 14, 2007 College Round-up Duke won the NCAA East Regional with a team total 20-under-par 844. UCLA's Sydnee Michaels placed first in the individual portion with a 13-under-par 203. Southern California captured first place at the NCAA Central Regional with a 17-over-par 869. Vanderbilt's Jacqui Concolino, left, fired a 5-under-par 208 to claim medalist honors. Oklahoma State and Stanford were tied atop the NCAA West Regional with matching 22-over-par 874s. The Cowgirls were led by Pernilla Lindberg, who won the individual title with a 7-under-par 207. The Women's NCAA Championship will take place May 22-25 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Men's NCAA Regionals will be held
May 17-19. Stanford, Georgia and Alabama are each
seeded No. 1. Phil Mickelson won The Players Championship with an 11-under-par 277. It is Mickelson's second win of the 2007 season - in February he captured the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Suzann Pettersen won the LPGA Tour's Michelob Ultra Open, firing rounds of 66-72-68-68 for a 10-under-par 274. It is Pettersen's first LPGA Tour victory. |
