By winning The Junior PLAYERS Championship presented by
TaylorMade-adidas Golf over Labor Day weekend, Gavin Hall of Pittsford, N.Y., earned a sponsor’s exemption to play
in his second professional event, the Winn Dixie Jacksonville Open Presented by
Planters (Oct. 20-23). Hall, 17, will tee off at 9:30 a.m. Thursday and 2:10
p.m. Friday on Dye’s Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass.
During the second round of The Junior PLAYERS Championship
presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf, Hall scorched Dye’s Valley Course with nine
birdies en route to a 6-under-par 64. Combined with rounds of 72 and 75 on The
PLAYERS Stadium Course, he posted a 3-under-par total and clinched his first
AJGA Invitational victory.
“It's going to be a lot of fun, especially here. This is
great weather, great people and a great community,” Hall said following his
win. “I kind of got my feet wet last year playing in the PGA TOUR event, and I
think coming up this year I'll be a little more prepared. I learned a lot about
myself, especially how to handle my nerves and emotions.”
Hall made his PGA TOUR debut at the 2010 Turning Stone
Resort Championship and missed the cut after carding rounds of 78-71. He is
currently No. 9 in the Polo Golf Rankings and earned first-team Rolex Junior
All-America honors in 2009 and 2010.
