After tying his personal-best 18-hole total on
Friday with a 61,
Tiger Woods pulled
away from the field to
capture
the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. He finished with an
even-par 70 on Sunday to seal the victory with a tournament total 15-under-par
265 for his fifth win this year and 79
th of his career.
Woods played in 13 and
won eight AJGA tournaments from 1991-93, which ties him for second-most AJGA
career wins and earned him the title of Rolex Junior Player of the Year in 1991
and 1992. Woods appeared in the Wyndham Cup from 1990-1993 as a member of the
West Team and posted a record of 11-3-2, the best of any boy in the
tournament’s history.
Before beginning his
professional career, Woods spent two years at Stanford University where he was
a two-time first team All-American. In 1996, he was the NCAA individual
champion, the Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year, the Pac-12 conference champion
and Pac-12 Player of the Year.
Gary
Woodland finished with seven birdies for a tournament total
44 points in the Modified Stableford format to
win
the Reno-Tahoe Open. This was the second PGA TOUR victory
for the AJGA alum, who competed in 2001.
Woodland co-sponsored an event in 2012, the Under
Armour® / Gary Woodland Championship at Diablo Grande Golf and County Club.
In his college career at the University of Kansas,
Woodland was a four-time individual medalist, second most all-time for the
Jayhawks. His best finish at the Big 12 conference championship was a T7 finish
in 2007. Woodland graduated as a two-time All-Big 12 honoree.

Stacy
Lewis birdied her last two holes on Sunday to finish with
an even-par 72 on the Old Course of St. Andrews to
win
the RICOH Women’s British Open. Her tournament total
8-under-par 280 led to her second major victory. Lewis is also the first
American to win the tournament since 2006.
Lewis played in eight
AJGA tournaments during the 2001 and 2002 seasons. Her junior career was
highlighted by a T4 finish at the 2002 Aaron’s / Bob Estes Abilene Junior and a
seventh-place finish at the 2002 Junior All-Star at Colonial.
She is the most decorated women’s golfer in the
University of Arkansas history. Her collegiate career concluded as a four-time
All-SEC and four-time All-American selection. Lewis was a two-time SEC
champion, as a freshman in 2005 and as a senior in 2008. As a junior, she won
the 2007 NCAA individual title and was presented the Dinah Shore Trophy.
2013
Junior PGA Championship
The rising high school junior won in his first AJGA
start at the 2011 Evitt Foundation RTC Junior All-Star. Since his fast start,
McDaniel has notched six top-10 finishes and has given a verbal commitment to
play for the University of Kentucky.
The Brea, Calif., native currently holds the No. 7
spot in the Polo Golf Rankings. Lee has seven top-five AJGA finishes and two
victories. Her accolades with the AJGA have made her a two-time Rolex Junior
All-American. The rising high school junior has verbally committed to the
University of Southern California.
Amateur
In his four-year career with the AJGA, Niebrugge had
seven top-10 finishes, including two individual titles. He received Rolex
Junior All-America honors in 2011.
Niebrugge recorded two runner-up finishes in his freshman
season for Oklahoma State University. He finished T10 at the 2013 NCAA
Fayetteville Regional. His standout season earned him PING All-Central Region
honors and an All-Big 12 selection.
Carter
Jenkins of Raleigh, N.C., won the 2013 North Carolina Match
Play Amateur after defeating Alex Nianouris, 6 and 5.
Jenkins’ best AJGA career showing came at the 2010 IZOD
AJGA Championship with a T13 finish. He will play for UNC-Greensboro starting
this fall.
Kevin
Jorden of Juno Beach, Fla.,won the 2013 Florida Match Play, defeating Philip Knowles of Bradenton, Fla., 21 holes.
In his four-year career with the AJGA, Jorden had
seven top-10 finishes. His best showing came as the runner-up at the 2010
Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic.
Pat
Wilson of Andover, N.J., won the 2013 Metropolitan
Amateur, defeating Trevor Randolph, 8 and 7.
Wilson played in AJGA events in 2008. His best
finish was a T10 showing at the Preseason Junior at Rochester presented by
Wegmans LPGA and Xerox Classic.
In his collegiate career at St. John’s University,
Wilson had nine top-10 finishes, including a win at the 2012 Caribbean
Intercollegiate. He ended his time with the Red Storm as a two-time selection
to both the PING Northeast All-Region Team and the All-Big East Team.
Christine
Lin
of Austin, Texas, won the 2013 Texas Women’s Amateur, defeating Megan Thothong, 19 holes.
Lin had nine AJGA top-five finishes from 2007-12.
In 2011, she received HP Scholastic Junior All-America honors. In her last year,
Lin was named a first-team Rolex Junior All-American.
The rising sophomore at Harvard University placed
second at the Ivy League Championship. At the end of her freshman season, Lin
was named to the All-Ivy League first team and was the Ivy League Rookie of the
Year.
Alice
Chen
of Princeton, N.J., won the 2013 New Jersey Women’s Amateur, defeating Alexandra Hershberger of Basking Ridge,
N.J., 6 and 4.
Chen has 10 top-10 finishes since beginning her AJGA
career in 2009. The rising high school senior has verbally committed to Furman
University.
Cammie
Gray
of Northport, Ala., carded a final-round even-par 72 for a tournament total
4-over-par 220 to win the Alabama Women’s Stroke Play.
In her two-year career with the AJGA, Gray had four
top-20 finishes. Her personal-best came with a T4 at the 2011 AJGA Junior at
Steelwood presented by AT&T.
Gray is a rising sophomore at the University of
Alabama.
