AJGA Alum Matt Kuchar earned the fourth win of his
professional career, and the first of this season, when he was victorious Sunday
at THE PLAYERS Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Now ranked fifth by the Official World Golf Rankings, Kuchar played with the AJGA from 1993 to 1996. During his time with the AJGA, Kuchar had five top-3 finishes and earned the status of second-team Rolex Junior All-American in 1994 and third-team Rolex Junior All-American in 1995. His best showing came at the 1994 Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior when he finished runner-up to fellow TOUR player Ben Curtis.
Kuchar achieved both academic and athletic success after
he left the AJGA. While enrolled at Georgia Tech, Kuchar won the title of U.S.
Amateur Champion in 1997 and was the low amateur at the 1998 Masters. The
two-time first-team All-American earned his B.S. in management from Georgia
Tech and turned pro in 2000.
Kuchar’s other wins on the PGA TOUR include the 2002 Honda Classic, the 2009 Turning Stone Championship and The Barclays in 2010.
