After seven years
on the LPGA Tour, AJGA alum Brittany Lang claimed her first victory Sunday at
the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic.
Lang birdied
the par-5 18th hole three times to defeat Hee Kyung Seo, Chella
Choi, and fellow AJGA alum Inbee Park in a four-way sudden death playoff Sunday
to win the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic at the Grey Silo Golf Club in
Waterloo, Ontario.
Following her
win, Lang moved up 11 spots to No. 24 in the Rolex Rankings. In her seventh season,
Lang has finished in the top 10 twice earlier in the season, at both the HSBC
LPGA Brasil Cup and the LPGA Lotte Championship presented by J Golf.
Prior to turning
professional, Lang played college golf at Duke. During her time there, she won
six tournaments, earned All-America status in 2004 and 2005, and was named NGCA
Rookie of the Year in 2004.
As a junior
golfer, Lang won six AJGA tournaments, including the
Genesis Shootout presented by the Valero
Texas Open. She earned the status of Rolex Junior All-American in both 2001 and
2002, represented the U.S. in the 2002 PING Junior Solheim Cup, and was a
member of the 2001 and 2002 West Wyndham Cup Team.
