Keegan
Bradley earned his first PGA TOUR victory of the season, and
third of his career, at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational
at Firestone CC. Bradley shot a 6-under-par 64 during the final round to defeat
Steve Stricker and Jim Furyk by one stroke.
Prior to his professional successes, Bradley competed in
11 AJGA events, winning the 2004 Lessing’s AJGA Classic and earning Rolex
Junior All-American honors. Upon graduating from St. John’s in 2008, Bradley
turned professional. He has recorded eight PGA TOUR top-10 finishes, including
victories at the 2011 HP Byron Nelson Championship and PGA Championship.
J.J.
Henry, who played in four AJGA events from 1991 until 1993,
earned his second PGA TOUR career victory at the Reno-Tahoe Open hosted at the
Montreux Golf and Country Club. Henry
won the event, which uses modified Stableford scoring, by one point. The
victory earned Henry a place in the PGA Championship field later this week.
Ben
Kohles recorded a second professional victory at the Cox
Classic. Of the rounds he has played as a professional, the 2008 Rolex Junior
All-American has completed all eight under par. The two-time ACC Player of the
Year competed in six AJGA events in 2007 and 2008, recording four top-25
finishes. Just one win away from a promotion to the PGA TOUR, Kohles will
compete in the field at the Price Cutter Charity Championship, Aug. 9-12.
Four strokes back going into the final six holes, Jacyln Sweeney birdied four holes to
capture her first Symetra Tour victory at the Credit Union Challenge at Capital
Hills Golf Course of Albany, N.Y. The Arizona State graduate played in AJGA
events from 2003-2007, recording nine top-10 finishes and earning the
distinction of honorable mention Rolex Junior All-American in 2007.
Chris
Williams followed up his record 16-under performance at last
year’s Western Amateur with not only a new record of 17-under-par 271, but a
victory at this year’s event. Williams, a rising senior at Washington, played
in the 2008 Emerson Junior Golf Classic and TEE UP Junior Challenge, finishing
in the top-25 at both.
