BRASELTON, Ga. – The American Junior Golf Association announced the remainder of its 2017 schedule on October 28. The schedule is highlighted by professional support, the inaugural Junior Presidents Cup and the return of the PING Junior Solheim Cup to the United States.

Professional Support

In addition to tournaments supported in the spring by Annika Sorenstam, Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose and Justin Thomas, the rest of the season sports tournaments with support from 21 past and current professional Tour members.

Azahara Munoz will host her first AJGA tournament in June at the Transamerica / Azahara Munoz Junior Championship. Munoz posted two top-10 finishes at the Thunderbird International Junior in 2004 and 2005 and competed for the European PING Junior Solheim Cup Team in 2002, 2003 and 2005.

Daniel Berger, Shanshan Feng, Sergio Garcia (dates TBA), Bill and Jay Haas, Alison Lee and Jimmy Walker will all return for their second consecutive year hosting an AJGA tournament. Other professionals hosting tournaments throughout the year include Bob Estes, Heather Farr, Hale Irwin, Stacy Lewis, Davis Love III, Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore, Greg Norman, Patrick Reed, Scott Stallings, Payne Stewart, Vaughn Taylor, David Toms and Gary Woodland.

Junior Presidents Cup

In early October, 2016, the PGA TOUR and AJGA implemented the Junior Presidents Cup beginning in 2017. The tournament is modeled after the biennial Presidents Cup and will feature 24 of the best junior boys from the United States and around the world, excluding Europe.

The inaugural Junior Presidents Cup will be held at Plainfield Country Club, the host course of the first event of the FedExCup Playoffs in both 2011 and 2015. The teams will be captained by a pair of AJGA alumni: David Toms (U.S.) and Trevor Immelman (International). Joining Toms and Immelman will be Honorary Captains Jack Nicklaus (U.S.) and Gary Player (International).

PING Junior Solheim Cup

This year marks the return of the PING Junior Solheim Cup to American soil for the first time since 2013. Mirrored after the Solheim Cup, the PING Junior Solheim Cup biennially features the 12 best female junior golfers from the United States against the 12 best junior girls from Europe. The team match play event rotates between U.S. and European host sites coinciding with the Solheim Cup.

The United States maintained the Cup with a 15.5-8.5 victory in 2009, and narrowly earned a 13-11 victory in Germany in 2015. The road win was the first in the tournament’s history and sets the scene for the 2017 chapter at Des Moines Golf & Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa. Two AJGA tournament hosts, Alison Lee and Azahara Munoz, hold the record for most appearances at the PING Junior Solheim Cup with three apiece.
